5. Old cheese

Aging cheese may be a migraine trigger for many people, because it is high in tyramine. Tyramine comes from the amino acid, tyrosine and is usually formed in preserved, salted, smoked and fermented foods.

Old cheeses, such as cheddar, fetal, blue cheese, parmesan, gouda and muenster, are among the groups of cheeses that need to be aware of triggering headaches.

On the other hand, fresh cheese usually doesn’t contain a lot of tyramine, so it’s safer to eat even if you experience migraines sometimes.
